How To Play Baccarat?

It is true that at first it may seem a bit complicated, but if it is explained step by step, it is understandable by everyone. Of course, it is best to practice as you understand it.

Well, the game begins when a bet is placed on the player, the banker or the tie. Bets are always placed before the cards are dealt. Once the cards have been dealt, the winning hand is the one with a value of 9 or the one that is closest to that figure. If the player or the banker have the same score, the hand is declared a tie.

But first you have to make clear the score of the cards: From 2 to 9 each card has the face value, the Ace is worth one point and the 10, the J, the Q and the K are worth 0 points. And as we have said, there are three types of bets (bet on the bank, the player and the tie).

Example:

  • If an Ace and a 5 are rolled, that’s 6 points.
  • If you roll an 8 and an 8, that’s also 6 points Why? Yes, the sum is 16, but the 1 on the left is removed.
  • If a K and a 6 come up, then we also have 6 points since 0 + 6 = 6.

And how do you pay? Well, if you bet on the bank and win, you pay 1: 1, if you bet on the player, 1: 1, but if you bet on a tie, you pay 9: 1. However, it must be borne in mind that betting on the tie the house has an advantage of 14.2%, so it is not very smart to bet on this result. In the case of betting on the player, the house advantage is 1.24% and in the case of betting on the house, the house advantage is only 1.06%.

Yes, you can say that if it pays the same to bet on the house or on the player, then it is best to bet on the house. Well yes, you are right. In the long run it is much better to bet on the house … you have more chances of victory. Of course, you have to pay a 5% commission in this case if the bet is winning.

As you can see, it is a game in which you can bet on the player, on the bank or on a tie. I mean, it’s not what we’re used to and that novelty attracts a lot of people.

Baccarat Rules

You are thinking that if the bank and the player do not have the same victory options it will be for something, right? Well yes, it’s by the rule of the third card. This third card is drawn on special occasions, differentiating the player and the house. These are the rules in which the player and the house differ:

 Player Rules :

  • If the hand totals between 0 and 5, you must always draw a third card.
  • If the hand is between 6 and 7, inclusive, it must be planted.
  • If the hand is between 8 and 9, inclusive, you have to see who is the winner, if the bank or the player, depending on what the bank has.

Banking Rules :

  • If the hand totals between 0 and 2, another card must be dealt.
  • If the hand adds up to 3, it will be dealt as long as the player’s third card was not an 8.
  • If the hand adds up to 4, a card will be dealt as long as the player’s third card is between 2 and 7, both included.
  • If the bank’s hand adds up to 5, they will always have to deal a card.
  • If the bank’s hand adds up to 6, a card will be dealt as long as the player’s third card is a 6 or a 7.

Taking this into account, the house has an advantage to beat the player that is reflected in their chances of victory. Therefore, it is much better to bet on the house than on the player.
